Thinking about the Impact of the Media, :)

*Agenda setting*
I do agree with this. It seems to me that news companies, n
ewspapers, and magazines are always focus
ing on the bad things, and you constantly hear about the same people over and over again. Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan. Those are all people that you hear about all the time. Or on the news, you hear about the bad things. Murders, shootings, drug busts. Very rarely do we hear about the good things happening in the world. There are so many people out there trying to change the world for the better, and aren't getting any recognition because these major companies do not think that it's news worthy.

*Norms and culture*
I also agree with what this is saying, because it's kind of like people only watch things with a whole lot of drama, or with people making a fool out of themselves. I do have to say that I am much like 90% of America, that likes to watch shows filled with drama. Degrassi is one of my absolute favorite shows, but honestly, high school is nothing like what they are showing that it is on that show. We don't have girls getting pregnant left and right, we don't have crazy murders where people get paralyzed. That show is great, don't get me wrong, but it stretches the truth just a tad.

*Modeling*
On this one, I kind of agree. There are many shows that kids watch that can reflect on their way of doing things, or their behavior. Mean Girls is an example of this. In the movie, there is a part where Regina's little sister is watching Girls Gone Wild, and lifting up her shirt... That was influencing her in a negative way for sure. There is another thing that I can relate back to the movie. On The Tyra Banks show, there was an episode about a girl who actually started a "Burn Book" and added rumors about every girl at her school. That movie is one of my favorites, but it obviously had a negative impact on some people.

*Apathy*
Once again I agree. There are so many problems in our world, but no one is trying to find solutions, or fix these problems. Global Warming everyone knows about. It is sometimes on the news, and we really need to find a solution for it. In this case, the media DOES tell us how we can stop it, but no one really chooses to. It's very annoying, because we have some people in this world trying to be green and stop it. Getting cars that run on corn oil, recycling, go to thrift stores, etc. But then we have these annoying people, that don't care, and continue to pollute the Earth and litter, without even caring.

  2. I totally agree.
Most of the stuff on TV doesn't even happen and probably won't.
